Please use your most frequently used e-mail address to register as a potential participant in experiments. Your email is the only means by which we communicate with experiment participants, and thus it is critical that you are able to receive emails in a timely manner.
Experiment participants should have complete fluency in English reading and verbal-comprehension skills. Participants who do not have fluency in English may have difficulty understanding the instructions prior to the experiment and will thus be at a significant disadvantage.
For each experiment session, people registered in the subject-recruitment database will receive an invitation via email. Only people who receive an invitation may enroll as a participant. If you receive an invitation to participate in a particular experiment session, you must answer positively to this email in order to reserve a place in the experiment. By doing so, you indicate your commitment to participate and arrive at the lab before the start time of the experiment. A small number of excess participants might be recruited as insurance against people who do not keep their appointment. People who are invited, arrive on time, and then cannot participate due to capacity constraints or other unforeseen circumstances will be compensated with a cash payment.
All payments to experiment participants will typically be made privately in cash immediately upon completion of the experiment. The payment received depends upon the participant's decisions and possibly the decisions of other participants as well as random factors.
People who agree to take part in a particular experiment must keep in mind that, if they do not arrive on time, the experiment might be cancelled because of a lack of participants. Therefore, by registering for laboratory experiments, you agree with the following statements:
1. I have been informed that if I do not arrive on time for an experiment in which I have enrolled, I will not receive any payment and may forfeit the opportunity to participate in future experiments.
2. If I am unable to attend an experiment for which I have enrolled, I agree to provide a minimum 24 hour notice to the experimenters. If I do not provide such notice, then I may forfeit the opportunity to participate in future experiments.
